Keiji Ito (born in 1935 in Gifu Prefecture) studied oil painting at Musashino Art School (now Musashino Art University). After graduation, he worked in the design office of the Gifu Prefectural Ceramics Experiment Station, where he met and studied under Sakuzo Hineno, a leader in the craft movement.
Thereafter, he gradually began to create Ito’s unique three-dimensional forms, and even now, at the age of 88, he continues to quietly create ceramics and paintings on a daily basis.
We hope you can feel the spirit of Keiji Ito in his clay.
