Akane Yamamoto

Akane Yamamoto was born in1977 in Kanazawa City, Ishikawa Prefecture.
She started cutting gold (“Kirigane”) on her own in 1999.
In 2000 she began studying traditional Kirigane techniques under Sayoko Eri, holder of the Important Intangible Cultural Property “Kirigane”.
In 2001 she graduated from Kyoto City University of Arts, Department of Fine Arts, Japanese Painting (copying and ink painting).
From 2002 to 2008 She worked as a part-time lecturer in 2002 at Kyoto University of Art and Design.
In 2011 she graduated from Toyama City Institute of Glass Art and stablished her own studio in Kyoto City.
She is currently a regular member of the Japan Kogei Association.
