Gallery NOW is pleased to present “|rencontre|Yoshinori Tsuchiya, Akira Wada” from 3 Nov (Fri) to 19 Nov (Sun), 2023.
The exhibition will comprise a space combining Tsuchiya’s over 6 m long Monshakirezi ‘Suigetsu’ and ‘Ryuei’ and Wada’s representative white vessel ‘Stairway to the Universe’, as well as a hanging scroll combining Tsuchiya’s Kire and Wada’s shafts. The exhibition will also feature various types of works, including Wada’s teacup ‘Omiwatari’, whiteware ‘Time’ and whiteware ‘Memory’, to introduce the world of Wada’s expression.

Tsuchiya is known for weaving with a rich modern sense, combining the traditional technique of ‘monsha’, which has been used since the Heian period, with the technique of ‘kasuri’.
His works, which incorporate intricate modern designs, are reminiscent of water, wind and light, and the colours of the vegetable dyes obtained from natural plants and trees are beautiful and gentle.
